Current Projects, Summer 2010
We've recently launched new comparative health care quality tools for Oregon doctors' offices on the Partner for Quality Care site. We're continuing our interface design work for Multnomah County's juvenile justice mental health caseload management system. It's been a long time in coming, but the new Oregon Arts Commission site has gone live. We're happy to announce two new clients: the Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality and COMPASS. And we really do have a new Squishy site in the works. Seriously.

UCLA / UT
Web Design and Development

Squishymedia has partnered with the University of Texas Poldrack Cognitive Science Lab on a multi-year project to build the Cognitive Atlas system. Cognitive Atlas is a sophisticated semantically aware web application designed to help researchers and scientists collaboratively develop a cognitive science lexicon and conceptual ontology.

Oregon Health Care Quality Corporation
In June 2009 we launched the Partner for Quality Care site, a consumer-oriented site for health care quality information. We're continuing to work with "Q-Corp" to make the site informative, useful, and comprehensive.

Office for Oregon Health Policy and Research
Web Design and Development

The Health Indicators site is designed to provide health care community professionals with easy access to a comprehensive database of Oregon health care statistics. We worked with OHPR to design and build this user-friendly site for their statistics collections.

Oregon Department of Administrative Services
User Interface Analysis and Design

ORPIN is Oregon's central state procurement system; we worked with DAS to analyze the current system and identify areas for usability upgrades. We provided reporting and documentation to guide implementation of the improvements later in 2008.

United States Bankruptcy Court of Oregon
Web Design and Implementation Assistance

We worked with the United States Bankruptcy Court of Oregon to redesign their web presence. We developed a new look/feel and information architecture and created templates for implementation.

Oregon State Library
User Interface Analysis and Design

We worked with the Oregon State Library to update the State Employee Information Center site.

Oregon Department of Transportation
Application User Interface Development

We worked with the Oregon Department of Transportation on a comprehensive user interface design project. Our services included user testing, prototyping, analysis, design, and implementation documentation for a complex statewide traffic information management system.

Premier Event Reservations
Online Registration Application

We worked with Premier Event Reservations to build a secure online reservation system for a large healthcare organization conference. The system included registration management tools and a report generation tool. We also provided hosting services for the application.

Oregon Arts Commission
Web Design and Content Management

The Oregon Arts Commission needed to revamp their web presence. The project started with an extensive discovery phase where we identified the core communication objectives and mapped out implementation strategies. For the first project we restructured and streamlined their content and presentation to be more consistent, simplified access to core materials, integrated their existing databases into a content management system, and ensured compliance with ADA accessibility requirements.

Oregon Cultural Trust
Web Design and Content Management

The Oregon Cultural Trust needed to replace a legacy site with a more effective web presence. We worked with agency staff and community stakeholders to identify specific project objectives and created an implementation blueprint. We worked with the agency to create, edit, and organize content, coordinating with organizational communication objectives and the production of marketing materials. We developed an interactive presentation to help communicate the organization’s mission to the general public while also educating users about program participation requirements and relevant tax law.

SAIF
Interactive CD-ROM Development

We worked with SAIF (the State of Oregon Workers Compensation insurer) to create a CD-ROM based version of their account materials for distribution to new policyholders.

Beaverton School District
Multimedia Site Development

In partnership with North Shore Productions we worked with the Beaverton School District to build a digital 'orientation packet' for new hires joining the district. The project, eventually distributed online, integrates video and documentation within a compelling user experience.

Client Confidential
Interactive CD-ROM Development

A leading semiconductor manufacturer needed to communicate a complex multi-stage 'best practices' process to their customer relationship managers. The user experience needed to emphasize the simple core concepts behind the process while still providing access to a large body of detailed content. Working with another agency we developed a linear timeline-based presentation on CD-ROM with customized information drill-down assets; the detailed content is always presented in the context of the core messages, making the end user experience much more manageable and coherent.

Free Associate
Free Associate is a system that creates an autonomous "personal context agent" that monitors flows of networked information. It assists the user by creating a personalized metadata framework for the creation and management of individualized knowledge structures. In 2003 the first round of development on Free Associate was completed; the final product was a prototype 'knowledge pattern manager' application. The user of the application could organize their bookmarks and content thematically and then use the collected content as a semantic filter for Google searches.
